Airbus Operations SAS – an EADS company – is the major commercial aircraft company in Europe and a leading aircraft manufacturer on a global scale. It comprises four national companies: Airbus Operations SAS (AI-F), Airbus Operations GmbH (AI-D), Airbus Operations Ltd (AI-UK) and Airbus Operations S.L. (AI-E).

Airbus Operations SAS holds about 50% of the world market for airliners with more than 100 seats. Airbus Operations SAS is engaged in the development and manufacture of advanced high performance transport aircraft in cooperation with numerous partners and subcontractors, and is recognized for its technological expertise in nearly all fields of aeronautical engineering.

Investment in research and technology development is key to the future of the company, and as such Airbus Operations SAS is a key player in major research activities in Europe, particularly in the EC Framework Programmes. R&T capabilities of Airbus Operations SAS cover all aspects of aircraft design and optimization (aerodynamics, aeroelastics, structures, weights, performances, operating costs, environmental aspects etc.), airframe and systems development and engine integration.

Airbus Operations SAS has a long history of leading and participating in European projects and is therefore a key player in providing input and experience regarding the evaluation of research projects funding in the European framework.
